We would be lucky to make it to eighty. Most of us would be happy to make it to sixty. But this dancing grandma is 101. Yes, one hundred and one. And no, she’s not in a wheelchair nor is she bedridden. Grandma Minerva is on her own two feet and dancing.
Look at that lovely smile on her face. White button down, purple pants, and… suede shoes? Certainly does look like suede.
Show them, grandma!
Her song of choice is Elvis Presley‘s “Blue Suede Shoes“. The song came out in 1956 which means grandma was 40 then. She was already a mature adult when Elvis recorded the song.
There’s more.
Minerva Boran was born during the first world war. She lived through the Spanish Influenza as a toddler, was there when women were given the right to vote, saw the start and end of the second world war, and witnessed so much more of history than any of us could have hoped to see.
So how does she celebrate being a centenarian? She’s still got the party life in her!
Minerva’s older than Elvis and even outlived the guy.
Perhaps this is grandma’s secret to her long life. Dancing is great for the body. And it’s not just the physical aspect. It boosts the mood, improves motor skills, and is great for mental health.
Imagine her back in the day during her teens and twenties. She must have been the life of every party! Even in her retirement home, she is known for being the one with all the energy. And Minerva loves it.
Minerva even sticks her tongue out as she waves her hands!
A little hip action, a slight dip, and a big smile on her face and grandma shows everyone that life can be taken one day, one dance at a time. It’s all about the attitude. Go, grandma!
Grandma Boran was an internet sensation.
If there’s ever a reason for us to change our outlook in life, this was it. We live such fast paced lifestyles, chasing dreams and money that sometimes we forget to slow down and dance. Just dance.
This Nova Scotia lady says her years went by so fast. Boran never married but urges people to enjoy life. Her only regret in life was that she never got to see Elvis.
Minerva was a teacher and a principal but on her free time, she traveled. She’s been to Europe, Africa, Asia and who else knows where but her love has always been music and dancing. This funky centenarian loves chocolates.
Minerva took control of her life and had a great time! She refused to be a bystander and just watch as opportunities and moments went by. Bet you she danced in all those continents she’s visited.
Who knows what else she’s experienced? And here we are going to the gym, eating healthy, but stressing out over work and relationships. Makes one wonder if it’s all worth it.
How about we all just played some music and danced our hearts out? It worked for Minerva. If we can dance to eighty, that would be pretty awesome.
