Although weddings can be one of the most joyful days of our lives, they also bring in a ton of stress.

When it comes to planning a wedding, there are so many different things to consider. You have to pick people to be bridesmaids and groomsmen. You have to pick the perfect venue (and one that you can afford). You have to order all kinds of flowers and organize a seating chart. You have to file all kinds of paperwork. The list goes on. Because weddings take so much advance planning, generally things are ready when the big day comes around.

But it gets particularly stressful when things go wrong at the last possible moment.

One story that recently aired on LA Frock Stars illustrated this all too clearly.

For those who are unfamiliar, LA Frock Stars is a show on the Smithsonian Channel which follows the exploits of a high-end vintage clothing store owned and operated by Doris Raymond. In the show, Raymond and her team find dresses for all kinds of clientele for all kinds of different reasons. Though they’re used to finding vintage designer gowns for major red carpet events, finding last-minute wedding dresses is definitely not what usually happens on the show!

Fortunately, the team was definitely up to the challenge.

It all started when Amanda walked into The Way We Wore with her friend Rick—and it was clear she was having a crisis.

Upon walking in, staff members Angelica and Nikki quickly approached them and asked if they needed any help. “Oh yeah,” Amanda said wryly. “We need a lot of help.” After a few moments of explanation, she told the staff that she needed a wedding dress—for that weekend, only three days away! As it turns out, the dress she had ordered came in way too big to fit, and there wasn’t enough time to have it altered before the wedding. “I had this whole vision and it fell apart and the wedding is this weekend,” Amanda said.

Fortunately, the staff were able to get creative to help solve the problem.

Although they told Amanda that they didn’t have any traditional wedding dresses, they mentioned some cream-colored gowns that might work.

Amanda requested something that gave a nod to “old Hollywood,” and with that suggestion, the stylists were on their way. At first, they pulled out a few dresses for Amanda and Rick to look at. Though there were a few things that caught their eye, they decided to keep looking. When they got upstairs, Amanda finally saw a dress that caught her eye—it was an extra-long, Alexander McQueen dress that had a kind of 1920’s vibe about it.

With that one in tow (along with a couple others), Amanda decided to start trying things on.

The first one out was a Christian Dior-inspired ball gown that everyone thought looked incredible.

Although Amanda was definitely in love with the dress, she mentioned to the staff members that the wedding was somewhat county fair-themed… and that she might be a little bit overdressed. Fortunately, there were still plenty more gowns to try on! After a few more moments, Amanda stepped out in an Alexander McQueen silk chiffon gown with floral embroidery on it. The reactions she got said it all—the dress was a perfect balance of elegant and sexy and it all fit perfectly.

Amanda had finally found her perfect wedding dress!

The total price for the dress was $3500—but Amanda and Rick both knew it was worth every penny.

As it turns out, Nikki and Angelica had been hoping that a bride-to-be would discover the very dress that Amanda pulled out for some time. Needless to say, the dress couldn’t have ended up in better hands. After putting it on and twirling around in the mirror a few times, Amanda said it best of all: “Miracles do happen!”
