Ice skating is a sport for everyone, including little kids. Sometimes we even get to see toddlers do the most amazing things on the ice, just like this 3-year old toddler in an ice-skating competition.

A three-year old competitor steps on the slippery stage

During the annual Magnolia Ice Skate Competition in 2014, the crowd was intrigued by the entrance of a three-year-old toddler, Brynn Cartagena, on the skating rink. Brynn was probably the tiniest contestant that day, but the toddler showed no fear as she readies herself for her turn.

Brynn confidently slides through the ice for her performance and even waves at her mom, Valerie Cartagena before the music starts. The moment “The Muffin Man” played on the speakers, she begins her routine with great confidence.

At her age, she pretty much already learned the basics and that’s something that not every three-year-old could do. She has great balance and timing, and that makes her cruise the ice smoothly. Aside from her commendable control and posture, what makes her performance stand out from the rest is her adorable smile. She looks like she’s genuinely having fun on the rink that you’d almost forget that it’s a serious competition.

Brynn has no problems skating backward and she could even do a little wiggle at the same time. She makes sure to keep her eyes on the ice as she spreads her arms wide and skates through the ice. With perfect execution in her little spins and stops, she ends her performance quite magnificently. The crowd cheers on the graceful Brynn as she makes her exit on the rink. Her mom proudly carried her unbelievable daughter after such a wonderful act.

The internet was just as impressed at Brynn as the live crowd was

Valerie decided to share this wholesome video on YouTube and racked up 1.7 million views on the platform. Everyone was so impressed that they couldn’t help but leave compliments on the talented toddler. “She’s not even my child and I feel proud,” someone wrote in the comments.

She acquired those skills in only eight weeks of practice

Unbelievably, Valerie confesses that Brynn only had eight weeks on the stage before stepping into this big competition. However, Brynn managed to learn everything she had to and wonderfully dominated the contest as the 1st placer out of six other kids who entered the same competition. It really does make you wonder how this talented 3-year old did it.

Why teach your kids when they’re young

Some parents think that ice-skating is dangerous, but it actually has lots of benefits. Little falls might happen on the skating rink, but it’s just a part to help them learn how to get back up. Letting them have a grasp of determination and perseverance, they’d be skilfully skating in no time.

Not only ice-skating but letting your kid learn certain activities at a young age would hugely help with their growth and development. The age of two or three is probably the best time to start introducing your kids to these activities as it is when their minds could absorb things quickly, enabling them to learn faster.

Brynn continued to practice over the years and re-entered the skating rink during the Magnolia Free Skate IJS Excel Preliminary in 2020. You could clearly see how much the little toddler before improved her skills on the skates. Imagine how she will be in another three years.
