The poor worker was crying and covered in ice, soda and syrup when the last thing she expected was the next person in line to pull up and also leave her in tears.

If you want a glimpse into the good, the bad, and the ugly of the world, take up a job in customer service.

You’ll communicate with every type of personality out there. Good people on bad days, bad people on good days, people who give generous tips and people who don’t seem to realize that you’re also human.

Customer service jobs are an eye-opener into the real struggles that society is facing, as today’s story shows.

When Feroza Syed was waiting at a McDonald’s drive-thru in suburban Atlanta, she didn’t expect to see anything out of the ordinary.

But a man in the car in front of her had received a soda that he didn’t want, and instead of acting like a sensible grown-up, he had a temper tantrum.

The man threw the soda back through the drive-thru window at his server, and Feroza witnessed it all.

Speaking to TODAY, Feroza said she was in shock to see how the server, whose name is Bryanna, had been treated. She recalled:

“She was crying and covered in ice and soda and syrup. It was so obnoxious to me that I couldn’t even figure out what was happening.”

The only thing that Feroza felt she could do was give the woman a small tip. But later, when she returned to the McDonald’s to give in the driver’s plate number, she realized that Bryanna was pregnant.

It was at that moment that Feroza knew that she had to do more than just give a tip to support Bryanna.

So she set up a fundraiser for the pregnant server – and she never expected it to take off as it did. She admitted:

“I thought, let me do something nice for her. When I walked in the first time, she was covered in syrup all over her shoes, pants, and shirt, so I assumed maybe I could raise $300 or $400 for her to buy something nice or get her hair done or something.”

But just 24 hours later, the donations were at $1,700 – and they were still rolling in.

Feroza was keen to share her story with her friends and followers, and documented the situation on a Facebook post – complete with pictures of Bryanna receiving her donated money.

She explained how Bryanna had been attacked by a McDonald’s customer, then that she’d discovered Bryanna was pregnant.

She continued:

“Today I got to meet her, talk with her about her situation and found out that while they’re clearing up the inner workings of the situation, she hasn’t been able to go back to work.”

When Feroza handed Bryanna the money raised by kind strangers online, she recalled that Bryanna started crying and said that she needed it badly.

Feroza was keen to point out just how simple it is to change somebody’s life for the better.

You don’t have to be a millionaire to show your support. Feroza said it best in her Facebook post:

“When we talk about how to give back to our essential workers who put their lives on the line, feeding, housing, shopping, and providing healthcare for us remember that anyone can do what I did. A majority of our donations were under $25, $10 and $5. Every bit adds up and covid has stressed many of our essential workers to a breaking point.”

The post has thousands of likes and hundreds of shares and comments. Though many commenters congratulated Feroza for her act of kindness, she said that she didn’t want this to be on her. She said:

“It’s a complicated issue because you’re trying to help somebody. A lot of the comments were problematic, saying ‘you changed this person’s life.’ I did not. It’s a couple months’ worth of rent in Atlanta, it’s not changing someone’s life.”

However she feels about her deed, Feroza is a shining example of the good the world needs.
