While all good things are seemingly being stifled by catastrophic events happening left and right, random acts of kindness still rise above and remind us that there will always be reason to hope. These, in turn, inspire many others to pay it forward, consequently creating a positive ripple across a dark and senseless world. It could be as simple as showing appreciation for great service, tipping generously, or even just sharing a smile with a stranger.
When you do what you feel in your heart is right, you realize just how wonderful it feels to make someone’s day with a selfless act.
Young or old, it doesn’t matter. The kindness you put out there won’t just find its way back to you – it will leave a positive impact on many lives, especially for the ones who you don’t know need it the most.
And speaking of selflessness, one teenager out shopping with his aunt didn’t think twice about reaching out and helping a stranger in need.
Connie Belle Jenkins Sweet of Griffin, Georgia shared in a Facebook post how her 17-year-old nephew immediately jumped to the assistance of an elderly woman at Dollar General.
Her nephew, Senquavious Driver spotted the old lady struggling to alight from her vehicle. She was having difficulty getting off the vehicle and almost fell on the sidewalk.
The teen didn’t think twice and quickly approached the elderly woman, who was 81 years old.
“We were about to pull off and leave when she was trying to get out of her car, but she was struggling to get on the sidewalk. She could barely walk. She was only going in for a soda, but she barely could even get in the store.”
Senquavious accompanied the old lady in the store and assisted her while she shopped. Then he walked her back to her car. It was during the encounter that the old woman told the teen about a recent accident that caused her to injure her back and face.
After a quick shopping trip and some conversation, the 81-year-old was able to accomplish her errands in the store, thanks to the helpful young man. Connie was incredibly proud of the gesture her nephew did not hesitate to extend.
“I was in tears taking pictures because he didn’t hesitate to help her, and that made my heart happy.”
According to her, the elderly woman was really appreciative and kept thanking the teen before leaving.
While the helpful teen did not do any of this for attention or even to be thanked, the happy aunt couldn’t help but gush about how kind her nephew was and credited his actions to being raised right.
“I’m so proud of him because I know and love the lady that raised him, my sissy.”
The teen’s mother is definitely doing an amazing job at raising a man as courteous and well-mannered as Senquavious. His actions will hopefully inspire many others to follow suit.
“I have an awesome nephew. I pray to God he continues to do great things in his life.”
