Betty White has spent 80 years in Hollywood – shares how she managed to remain positive

July 31st, 2020

We’ve all heard the stories and the rumors that Hollywood is a dog-eat-dog kind of place. It’s rare to find a genuine person that has had a successful career that has lasted decades. Some actors and actresses are plagued with drama and scandals, while others eat up the attention. There is one actress that comes to mind, though that has managed to avoid all of these Hollywood tropes.

Betty White is considered a national treasure and will always be a household name that everyone recognizes. She is America’s grandma. She may be featured in memes that make their way across the internet, but they are always wholesome and funny- just like Betty White. Her sense of humor and personality has been inspirational to audiences all over the world.

At 98 the actress isn’t just happy and healthy, she is an absolute ray of light in the world of Hollywood. White is known for her positive outlook on life, seeing the good, and being grateful for all her long life has given her.

Her 98 years have been filled with a number of roles on shows like Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, and Hot in Cleveland. Though she played some award winning characters it wasn’t always that way. At first she was rejected, and told she wasn’t ‘photogenic’ enough to be on screen. But she never gave up and encourages others to do the same. “You just keep plugging away. You don’t give up.” she said. “Don’t think you can wing it, because you can’t. We’re in show business, which is fun, but take your business seriously because it is a serious business.”

Betty White takes her job very seriously mostly so she can spend the rest of her time giving back. It’s not well known but alongside being a famous actress, she is also a huge advocate animals, and is a member of several animal rights groups. She also surrounds herself with good people with similar passions.

“I know it sounds corny, but I try to see the funny side and the upside, not the downside. I get bored with people who complain about this or that. It’s such a waste of time,” the actress said.
