The innocence of little boys sometimes creates some of the most beautiful and heartwarming scenes in the world. For one boy with autism, two wishes was all he wanted for his birthday – one of them just happened to come true!
Daniel Harrison is a young boy with autism who recently asked for two wishes for his birthday.
“Daniel, for the first time, was asked at his special needs school to write two things that he’d like to achieve. His first was learning to drive and the second thing – which surprised us – was ‘make some friends,’ because we didn’t understand that he understood the theory of friendship.” – Kevin Harrison (Daniels dad)
Daniel is from Nottingham, England, and his wish for friends was a big deal. Boys his age with his severity of autism rarely ask for company. They are usually content to play alone and for the family, it was a shock.
Kevin often posts photos of Daniel on his social media page, but when he posted this, it was different.
From daily events to life updates, Kevin will post about his son somewhat often. He had a decent following but after posting Daniels wishes for his 15th birthday, that small following ballooned.
“Daniel’s my son. Profoundly Autistic. Hasn’t one friend. It’s his birthday today,” Harrison wrote, encouraging people to wish him a happy birthday and show him they care.
Soon, people all over were posing about it!
Mark Hammil, the actor who plays Luke Skywalker in Star Wars, was the first to tweet a happy birthday! Soon, others caught on. Russel Crow, Sharon Stone, and Ariel Winter all responded with a “hello” to Daniel!
Even more than that, people from all over the world reach out to Daniel to be his friend, many with autism themselves.

“He’s got four friends in Minnesota and one with #autism whose name is Daniel too,” tweeted Sheletta Brundidge, sharing a photo of herself and her son.
Daniel and Kevin were, as you can imagine, totally overwhelmed. There were so many responses they weren’t even able to get through them all.
“Hey Daniel, this is my son Jacob, also autistic, on his birthday last month,” wrote another dad who also shared a photo. “I’m sure he would love to be your friend if you met, provided you don’t mind hearing a whole lot about superheroes. Hope you had a wonderful day.”

When Daniel saw all the tweets, he literally started jumping.
Daniel saw all the messages and couldn’t help but jump around with how happy he was! As far as his two wishes go, it looks like one of them has already been achieved!
Daniel’s other wish, to drive a car, may have to wait a bit longer!
For now, Kevin says that Daniel will have to be ok with driving around his new game on his Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart! For a 15-year-old boy, that is probably plenty of excitement, no need to grow up too fast!
