We are used to hearing about adults saving young children from danger. It is something that is quite expected, especially since kids are not mature enough to handle serious situations.

However, one dad proved that kids are also capable of saving grown-ups.

Brad Hassig, a father who lives in Mountain Brook, Alabama, is beyond grateful for being blessed with another shot at life. He almost died one day while doing breathing exercises in their family pool, but was saved thanks to his twin 10-year-old boys and their friend who happened to be swimming with him that day.

As a chiropractor, Brad loved to meditate and practice breathing exercises while underwater to improve his health and well-being. He does this meditation in their family pool wherein he calms himself, prays, and reflects on life.

It was a normal day of meditation for Brad, but while underwater, the man suddenly lost consciousness.

His 10-year-old twins, Bridon and Christian, were swimming in the family pool as well. Their pal, 11-year-old Sam, was also enjoying the beautiful day while dipping at the cool water of the pool. Brad’s wife was at work at the time.

Everything looked normal at first until one of the twins saw Brad turning blue.

“I noticed that he wasn’t okay because he was laying on his side and he started to turn blue,” Christian shared.

Christian alerted his brother and their friend about what was happening to Brad. The two of them sprang into action and dove into the water.

Brad is a man who weighs about 185 lbs. and two kids below the age of twelve could not possibly drag him to the side of the pool to rescue him, but they were able to do it. Christian, on the other hand, ran as fast as he could to get help from the neighbors.

Unfortunately, their neighbors were not home at the time, but the smart young boy did not stop there. He ran to the road and stopped cars to get help for his dad.

By the pool, Bridon and Sam were able to get Brad out of the water.

The two boys knew what they had to do to save Brad: CPR. But none of them have ever attended a CPR class.

However, what they did know, however, is how CPR was done in the movie “The Sandlot,” a film the boys remembered vividly. Because of this knowledge, Bridon started doing CPR on his dad until Brad coughed out water and got his color back.

The first responders came, and Brad was given the care he needed.

Without the three boys at the time, something worse could have happened. But how could three small children carry a full-grown man out of the pool, perform CPR and call for help in just a matter of minutes? If they were late for just a bit, Brad would have been gone by now.

Brad believes that divine intervention is what helped these boys in saving his life that day.

What an inspiring story! This proves that teaching your kids what to do in dire situations can help. And of course, trusting that the Lord is with them every step of the way.
