After Celine Dion announced that her new Las Vegas residency show at Resorts World would be cancelled for medical reasons, her sister Claudette came out to give an interview on her sister’s well being as Celine was having “severe and persistent muscle spasms which are preventing her from performing”.
Claudette said her sister will be out “maybe for a few months” due to the muscle issues that involved her lower body. Apparently, it was already a problem at her last Las Vegas residency.
“The stage was a bit of a steep slope, and it was causing her problems with her muscles and her legs and feet,” Claudette explained, “I know she can’t wait to get back to her fans, she can’t wait to get back on stage, but she won’t if she doesn’t feel 100% fit.”
Friends and fans have reached out with love and concern for Celine.
“I’m not worried, because if we had had the slightest concern, we would already have had [more] medical details to tell you.” added Claudette.
The “Queen of Power Ballads” has always been consistent, never disappointing her fans with her often theatrical performances and shows. Claudette also went on to say that her sister does her best to stay in shape every day.
Celine is 53 and judging by her past interviews, is in excellent shape for an international singer and a mom of 3.
Regarding the cancellation, Celine said,
“I’m heartbroken by this…I’m especially sorry for disappointing all the fans who’ve been making their plans to come to Las Vegas. Now, I have to focus on getting better… I want to get through this as soon as I can.”
Those signature power ballads and that soaring voice will be back sooner than we think.

Celine just needs to rest.
Besides, she’s got nothing else left to prove. Dion is also known for having a selfless spirit, a heart so pure that she just keeps on giving and giving so long as her fans are happy.
Claudette believes her sister’s “great professionalism and passion” will help Celine overcome her issues.
Just to give you an idea of how much people love her. In 2018, over 300,000 Taiwanese fans clambered for the 20,000 tickets available for Célines first concert in Taiwan. That caused the system to lag for 30 minutes forcing the team to add two more shows.
It won’t be long before fans get to enjoy those soaring vocals once more. Celine is not one to give up, and she’s proven so time and time again. It’s what superstars are made of.
