Everyone loves a good lip sync battle, especially when it involves an adorable little girl stealing the show from a popular off duty cop.
Officer Tommy M Norman is a well known patrol officer in his little town of North Little Rock, Arkansas. He’s very involved in his community and everyone in the town loves him for his random acts of kindness and contributions to the community. He strives to make it a better place to live for everyone not only by being a great cop, but also a great person.
At one of the towns local events, he decided to participate in the Lip Sync competition with a little friend of his. After the announcer introduces the duo, the unmistakable opening notes of Justin Bieber’s “Baby” start to play. The crowd instantly knows it and starts to laugh as officer Norman begins to embarrass himself by lip syncing and dancing to the song.
At first it looks as though he’s going to do this performance solo, but off to the right of the stage sits a little girl, Amiyah, at a toy vanity looking like she’s getting ready. Norman sings to her but she seems to ignore him.
Then when the chorus comes around, he takes her hand and they step to the beat of the song together. Amiyah looks like a princess dressed in her little purple tutu next to this tall officer man. Their moves may not be professional but the crowd loves them and the little girl is stealing the show just by being adorable. Norman does a couple lifts and the bounce around together and then he does something strange.
He drops to his knee at Amiyah’s eye level and before he can open his mouth to rap, she puts a hand to his mouth to shush him.
While Ludacris raps in the background, the two sit on stage just like that: her hand and over Norman’s mouth to keep him from singing. The best part is after about 10 seconds it gets to be too much and Amiyah wipes her hand on her dress, clearly a little too wet from the officer breathing on her. Even better, she does it not once, but two more times during the rap and the audience cracks up every time.
The adorable duo continues to melt the audiences’ hearts for the rest of the song, right until Amiyah pops her hip when Norman hands her a rose at the end.
Officer Norman is a great guy and North Little Rock is lucky to have such an outstanding person in their community that their kids can look up to. The world needs more community members like Norman spreading positivity and good news..
