Many things about weddings are wonderful. But let’s face it — some of those reception moments are just for the bridal couple and their family. The guests just kind of have to sit through them and wait for it to end.
Take the father-daughter dance.
Is it beautiful? Yes. It’s a wonderful moment for the bride and her father as they bid goodbye to their old relationship. But as wedding guests, it can get a little old to watch a bride dance and sway to a country song with her dad.
But “boring” wasn’t in the cards for one bride and her father. The two of them had their guests fooled at first as they stepped onto the dance floor to a slow ballad. But within a few minutes, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a typical father-daughter dance.
Bride Madison and her father, Dr. Gary Otto, love to dance.
They spent many hours dancing together throughout Madison’s childhood. But when her wedding arrived, they knew it was their chance to perform a dance of a lifetime.
After a few moments of gentle swaying, the music stopped. Madison and Gary looked confused. Even the DJ threw her hands up in the air as though she didn’t know what had happened. Then the beat dropped and the two of them broke out their sunglasses and hit the dance floor — for real this time.
People on the internet couldn’t believe the moves of the bride and her father.
Not only were they great dancers, but they were also clearly having the best time of their lives.
“Awww I love this hahaha!!!” said one commenter. “I’m glad y’all had so much fun. God bless, my dad and I are planning a dance as well in May!!”
People were most impressed by Madison’s father, who proved himself to be a great dancer.
He jumped into the dance with everything he had, and it blew the minds of people on the internet.
“What a cute papa,” said one commenter. “My dad would of been on the floor by the first dance.. But then again never underestimate your farza…[sic]”
“I find it hilarious that so many people think that parents, in their 40’s, don’t still ‘have it’,” said one commenter “You may have a 20 I -something child, but it doesn’t matter. You are STILL young. (I’m 64 now, but I well remember my 40’s…[sic]”
It wasn’t a professional routine. It was just a woman and her father celebrating their relationship in a way they loved. Of course, everyone’s a critic.
“Well…they’re not Julianne & Derick Hough, but it’s so sweet that they have that close of a relationship!” said one commenter.
But by and large, people only had positive things to say.
They loved the routine and thought it was incredibly fun.
“You look lovely and your Dad was fab in this vid,” said one commenter. “Hope you has the best day ever. [sic]”
Of course, the very best thing about it was how happy the two of them were as they danced together.
“My favorite one so far lmfao,” said one commenter. “I love how both of you were having fun the whole time.”
There are plenty of father-daughter dances posted on the internet. But few of them are as great to watch as the ones where the bride and her father are having so much fun together.
