Lots of people aren’t huge fans of wearing face masks during the coronavirus pandemic, but one sophisticated Texas dad has made the best of the situation by making quite the fashion statement while wearing his mask.

In fact, his awesome antics have gone viral!

Steve Montgomery, 57, definitely likes looking his best. He absolutely has to match every day, especially at work, and politely chides his coworkers if they don’t.

This belief stems from his time spent in the Army.

“All of our uniforms had to match. I think that’s why I’m very coordinated with colors and stuff.”

When people began wearing face masks, he actually didn’t want to match others.

“I thought they looked so generic and I didn’t want to look the same, so I decided to do my own.”

That’s when Steve realized that his unused pocket squares that match his ties actually could be converted into a face mask!

His girlfriend Qin Latimer whipped some up for him and he’s since accumulated more than a dozen.

“I love to look good, so when I found my pocket inserts that came with my ties I asked my girlfriend to make me a mask.”

It’s important to him to not repeat the same look twice in one week, so he wears a different combination each day. He even matches his socks to his tie and mask!

“I don’t like all of those medical-looking masks, so I’m having fun with it and actually enjoy wearing a mask now.”

At first, only his daughter, girlfriend and coworkers knew of his infatuation with matching his face mask to his tie and socks.

But when his daughter Kiana shared some pics of her dad on Twitter with a protest to his antics, he went viral!

“Dad….. whyyyyy”

Kiana’s initial tweet garnered more than 675,500 likes and almost 83,000 retweets. She kept up the virtual fashion show and tweeted more photos of her snazzy dressed dad.

People couldn’t get enough of the sharp-dressed man! Of course, he just ate it up!

The funny thing is that Steve had no clue what his Twitter success initially meant but he quickly glommed on to his newfound fame.

“I didn’t know it meant when I first went ‘viral.”‘

Kiana couldn’t believe how it all unfolded.

“I decided to put it on Twitter, and it blew up the next morning. I wast just giving my dad a hard time because he always does random things like this. He’s super goofy.”

She even took a video of him in his office where he glances around, rolls backward in his chair, throws his leg up on the desk and shows off his matching socks.

“Have to say I honestly think it’s really cute LOL. I just like giving him a hard time.”

Among Steve’s collections are a black and brown stripe, checks, plaid and lots of variations of paisley in different hues. Qin is having fun making them, he said, and she’s created some masks for herself that match her hair scarves.

One Twitter user commented that Kiana’s dad “is a genius.” People even asked her where her dad got his socks.

We have to admit, he looks awfully smashing in his completely coordinated outfits! If you have to wear a face mask, you might as well go all out like Steve did and have fun with it.
