He was helping a friend write for a radio show which lead him to chase the comedians dream of performing standup across the country. After five years of the hustle and bustle, doing stand up, he gained the respects of some all time legends. He was a recurring guest on Johny Carson and the Late Night with David Letterman.

Audiences loved this normal looking guy who had put on a couple pounds from his Marine Corps days.

Drew was constantly on the go building his comedy career which made him forget about his overall health. The fast-paced life can do that to a person but people adored the chubby every day man in Drew Carey’s character.

Even though millions adored him, he never felt comfortable in his own body and wanted a change.

“I was sick of being fat on the camera. Really, I just got sick of it,” he told People.

Drew weighed in at 262 lbs and knew his patterns were damaging his life.

It took his fiancée, Nicole Jaracz’s 5-year-old son, Connor to really shape up his act.

Drew would be winded after just a short amount of play time and felt ashamed that he couldn’t make those memories with his soon-to-be step son. Drew told People,

“I’d be like, ‘Connor, I can’t,’ and he’d say, ‘C’mon, Dad!’ That was a terrible feeling. I thought, I’m never going to see him graduate high school.”

It was time for serious changes. His weight loss journey started in 2010, he cut back on all kinds of things.

He said goodbye to all carbs and junk food which had him drastically losing pounds. Drews diet consists of eggs, greek yogurt, grilled chicken, and fruits and veggies. But besides his dietary changes, for exercise he swears by cardio.

Which you can obviously tell worked out extremely well for the comedian.

Drew’s weight loss has made him almost unrecognizable and has now recclaimed his life. He told People,

“I look in the mirror and I feel like I’m in my 20s again. “I feel like I have my whole life back. I could live to be 100 now.”

Drew’s dashing transformation is truly an inspiration.

He’s living proof that you can always change your habits to improve your health and overall well-being. Cheers to you Drew Carey!
