How To Hilariously Get Rid Of A Telemarketer With One Word
Hilarious, and effective. :)

Growing up, our parents would often tell us to “Just say no” when we find ourselves in tight situations that seem to have our backs pressed to the wall. It does work but then there are times that the opposite holds true.

While some people don’t mind speaking to telemarketers, the majority just don’t. There’s technically nothing wrong with telemarketers, after all it is their job, but it’s the timing and the intrusion that irks people.

This guy found a way to have a telemarketer hang up while having a laugh.

He puts the telemarketer on speaker and you can hear the caller asking about his credit. Apparently, the call thinks this guy is having some issues. So the telemarketer asks about improving his credit score and getting out of debt. To which he answers both questions with “Yes”.

Then the caller asks another question.

“Great! I can help you do that. And how much debt would that be?”

But instead of giving numbers, he answers with another “Yes”.

Audible confusion from the telemarketer before giving a number. The customer answers with another “Yes” to the telemarketers suggestion of $20,000.00.

The telemarketer, probably fumbling around his station for a copy of his spiels, then asks if he has a job. It’s like he’s running through questions only answered by yes or no.

A viewer had a different view on the matter.

Lol, a rule of thumb is to avoid saying “Yes” on telemarketers’ call in response to ANY of their questions. Because all they need is a recording of your voice saying “yes”. Just keep saying “no” instead.”

He has a point. A good one.

When the customer answered “yes” to having a job, the telemarketer confirms the amount he was making. To which he receives another enthusiastic “Yes”.

The telemarketer confirms his residency then asks him to recite the last four digits of his social security number so he can check the records. And of course, he responds with a “Yes”.

The still enthusiastic telemarketer initiates the numbers 917312… then asks for the remaining digits.

“Yes”.

That, apparently, was the last straw.

The exasperated telemarketer asks three questions beginning with if he’s interested in the program and if he is a resident of the area. He gets a “yes” for both questions. The last question.

“You’re also a moron?”

Woah. But this customer had the same answer.

“Yes”.

Well he certainly got the telemarketer to hang up. But now he’s on record as a moron.

That’s one way of dealing with such calls. But another viewer used her bilingual skills,

“Most of the time I start speaking Spanish, and they say “please hold” and transfer me over to a Spanish speaker where I then speak English acting confused. Then they’ll sometimes transfer me back. Had it happen like 3 times in a row once before they caught on. Funniest shit ever”

This guy chose not to talk too much though, instead relying on a never ending stream of “Yeses” to frustrate the telemarketer and get him to give up. At the cost of being on record as a moron.
