Christopher and Christina Sanders, parents to a family of five children, made a life-changing decision to adopt six blood siblings into their already large family. And one of the most significant takeaways from this decision is they didn’t let the color of their skin influence their decision.

There were so many people attending the court session that there were barely enough seats available.

Judge Winkler has been serving as a judge for Hamilton County for over two years and to him, it was truly a unique experience because it was the first time that he officiated an adoption case with that many kids involved. He said:

“I’ve been here for over two years and it’s the first time I’ve had six children being adopted by a family, so I know it’s that unique.”

What was also unique about this case is that the Sanders family already have five children of their own before opening up their home to foster children. And before they decide to do so, they made a deal in which they will keep whoever comes to their home without sending them off to different houses.

We made an agreement that whoever we get we will keep them and not send them to different houses,” said Christina Sanders.

One of the newly adopted children, 13-year-old Caleb Sanders said that he and his other blood siblings were “having a rough life” previously and felt that now, they were all in a safe place.

The newly adopted also took on new names, which included the following:

  • 16-year-old Colby
  • 14-year-old Christian
  • 13-year-old Caleb
  • 12-year-old Kaylee
  • 10-year-old Carson
  • 9-year-old Chloe

Following that, Judge Winkler officially signed their names and legalized the adoption:

“I’ve officially signed the entry so it’s official.”

Everyone in the courtroom especially the family and the adopted clapped wholeheartedly, with the latter looking forward to starting their new lives with their new family.

And it looks like a bonding had already started with one of the elderly new adopted children was already anticipating the life that he and his blood siblings will be spending with their new family:

“I really appreciate the Sanders and all the kids because they really love us and they helped us out a lot.”

Chloe and Caitlin had already developed a strong bond even before the adoption process as they wore matching outfits just for this occasion.

The best thing about being Caitlin’s sister is that I have two sisters now,” said the recently adopted Chloe Sanders.

She’s the sweetest sister and I love her so much,” Caitlin.

The other members of the Sanders family expressed their joy and appreciation for everything that is transpired and are now set for the adventure of a lifetime with their expanded flock.

In one of the sweetest moments, the entire Sanders family posed for the cameras right beside Judge Winkler.

But perhaps the biggest trait of the Sanders family is that there is no such thing as racial discrimination, as Christopher said:

“We are all the same in God’s eyes, so the color of anyone’s skin has never had a bearing on any of this.”
