Random acts of kindness are much more common than most people realize.
Some people go out of their way to make others happy and when that happens, it should be shared. One woman recently shared a story of how a restaurant manager went out of his way to cheer them up. He knew they were going through some tough times, and he decided to give them something to make them think positive.
Deanna Feist shared the story on Facebook.
She posted:
“I have made this post public so that the world might see how generous others can still be. My Husband and I are in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and we extended our stay from Brandon, Florida to avoid hurricane Irma. As we were headed to lunch at The Old Mill restaurant, all the lights in our dash came on, from airbags to tire pressure. After We shut the car off, it wouldn’t turn on again. We asked the gentleman in the car next to us if we could get a jump, he happily helped us out. As I went inside to put our names on the wait list, he told my husband he was the manager and he would get us in right away. His name was Mo, and he had been running the restaurant for 23 years. He got us a table, and our lunch came out quicker than could be expected. As we finished up, our waitress put an envelope on our table and said it was from the manager, and that our meals were on the house. Inside was a voucher for free meals, $200 cash and a letter.”
She also shared a photo of the letter the manager left for them.
It reads,
“You are probably here to escape the Hurricane Irma. My brother lives in Tallahassee, Fl. I am saddened to see such devastation in this beautiful state. I hope everything will turn out ok for you guys. Enclosed please accept my gift to you in case you need to buy a battery for your car. Also I am enclosing a meal ticket so you can come back to eat here.

The Old Mill restaurant is a popular one in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
It has tasty food and a lot of old-fashioned charm. It also apparently has a great manager who really cares about his customers and helping them out. It also has a rich and interesting history.
According to the restaurant’s website;
“A water-powered gristmill was built on the banks of the what-was-to-be-called the Pigeon River, and soon became a hub of activity in this area of the Great Smoky Mountains. In those days, the mill faithfully ground the meals and flours that were crucial to the day-to-day existence in the mountains, and it soon became a gathering spot for settlers to trade news and goods. Mid 19th to 20th century: Mountain residents used the door to the mill as a notice post; today you can see and feel the nail holes that riddle the door. Inside, on the third floor of the mill, wounded soldiers were housed during the Civil War, and women of the growing town made uniforms there for soldiers.
“The first Post Office of Pigeon Forge was attached to the mill where the General Store stands today. The water-powered Old Mill even furnished electricity for the town until 1935. 21st century: Today, the Old Mill is a working tribute to the pioneer days of the Great Smoky Mountains. The Old Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most photographed mills in the country. Just as in the 19th century, it’s still one of the most popular places in the Smokies.”
Thanks to the manager, the family was able to look on the bright side and think about all the good things going on in their lives.
They might have been worried about their home and loved ones back in Florida, but they now know that they have a friend in Tennessee. Hopefully, this woman’s post will help the already popular restaurant get even more business. With customer service like that, it deserves it.
