Daniel Rivas was devastated when rejected by all the girls he asked to the homecoming dance.

Thankfully the 17-year-old’s dreams weren’t completely shattered after an underclassman surprised him with a proposal to attend the dance.

Rivas, a teen from Arizona who has Down syndrome, couldn’t have been more ecstatic when he was asked to the dance by tenth grader Kylie Fronius.

When Fronius offered Rivas a proper proposal with a sign and some balloons, he said “Yes!”

The same could be said about Rivas’ mom, Tonya Rivas, who was elated that someone showing love and kindness to her son after his heart was broken.

The loving mom was just as surprised as her son when she found Fronius in her driveway one morning.

“Someone took the time to take my son to homecoming,” Tonya Rivas said, according to Upworthy.

Fronius decided to ask Rivas to the dance after she heard that his feelings were hurt after he had been rejected.

“I don’t see disabled people as different. They are just normal people who learn in a different way,” Fronius told Fox 5 KVVU-TV. “I hope I can make his night fun.”

Rivas and Fronius’ homecoming proposal story ended up being posted on the internet where it went viral.

They were then taken for an upscale dinner at Bistro 57 in the Aliante Casino before heading over to the dance.

When they arrived at the dance, a red carpet was rolled out for them. Tonya Rivas cried tears of gratitude throughout the evening saying “her heart was happy.”

United Nissan in Las Vegas gave Rivas a $10,000 scholarship and surprised Fronius with a car. Rivas plans to go to college to become a chef.

“All you had to do was watch the [original] news story that aired, and you saw a young lady with a huge heart, and she was inspirational,” said Don Forman, the owner of United Nissan.
