It isn’t uncommon to hear that cats and dogs don’t get along. But is the old saying true?
Well, that depends on who you ask. But you might be surprised to hear that these two animals can get along just fine. In fact, they often do.
If you’ve ever looked up pet videos, you’ve likely come across several of them where cats and dogs get along just fine
Still, there are precautions one should take when bringing another pet into a home. The good news is that there are a handful of dog breeds that are known to get along with cats. One of those breeds is the loveable golden retriever.
Golden retrievers are often regarded for their loyalty, friendliness, and intelligence. These traits are what makes them the ideal dog to have around other species of animals. Despite their high energy and large stature, they’re gentle giants.
According to the American Kennel Club, beagles, collies, and pugs are a few other breeds that are likely to get along with your cat. Just keep in mind, like humans, every animal has its own personality.
But if you’re lucky enough to have a dog like the one in the following video, you and your cat will be as happy and safe as can be.
This golden retriever is quite possibly as patient and gentle as they come. He appears to have an amicable relationship with one of the cats in the house. In actuality, the two are very much the best of friends.
Throughout the video, there are clips of the two of them cuddling and napping together. You might wonder, do either of them know that the other is different? More than likely, they are well aware but just don’t seem to care about what anybody else thinks.
Truly. Just look at how the other cat in the house reacts to the two of them fawning for the other.
Thus, when the golden retriever’s best friend becomes a mama, there was no question who was going to be the greatest uncle.
Just like with the kitten’s mother, the golden retriever cuddles and naps with the baby kittens. He treats them as if they are his own. While their mother is never far away, the golden retriever is there to help care for the little ones.
Hopefully, this gives her a bit of alone time!
The golden retriever poses for photos with the kittens like the proud uncle that he is. The kittens also seem very comfortable and relaxed around him as well.
At one point, their owner picks up one of the kittens to place them next to their mama. The golden retriever watches and carefully helps guide the kitten to the floor. Even though they are safe in the human’s hands, the golden retriever is making sure they arrived to their destination safely.
At the end, the golden retriever is patted and rubbed on the head for being such an awesome protector. This little family can sure teach others about living together in harmony despite their differences.
