Family is one of the most important things in the world. It is something that you can hold on to forever.
Whenever there is a new baby that’s born, it is not only the parents who feel blessed and most excited; grandparents feel the same way too.
They have been through that journey of taking care of their own children until they mature and have a family of their own. Having grandchildren brings back those memories and their longing for young kids to have around the home.
However, not all grandparents live close to their grandchildren. This is why when they have the chance, they spend quality time as much as possible.
A grandchild enjoys a grandparent’s wisdom, and one’s genuine love and care. Grandparents also tend to be lenient when kids make mistakes. This is the common reason why grandchildren often run to them for comfort if they’re too scared to be punished for a mistake they’ve made, like breaking mommy’s very expensive china or using permanent ink on daddy’s car.
But we don’t know the kind of bond that these old and young souls share that they are very much attached to each other.
Mum Erica Lusher traveled to Florida, USA with her family to visit and surprise their loved ones in Golden Corral, Port Orange.
She doesn’t want to miss the moment, and see the reactions of two of her most adored people in the world, her son Ayden and Grandpa Greg, so she films the unexpected meeting.
They walk inside the restaurant where they meet first Erica’s mom. She’s surprised herself to see who came to visit. They make a few more steps inside the restaurant where Grandpa Greg and his wife are seated eating their meals.
Grandpa Greg cannot believe his eyes, and he’s already getting tearful just upon seeing the visitors. He is very much surprised.
Ayden moves closer to his grandpa, and they embrace each other tightly, almost inseparable. You can tell how much they longed for and missed each other. They have not been together for quite a long time.
Though social media can bridge the distance and keep us connected somehow, it is different when we can hold and hug those that we love.
Grandpa Greg cannot hold back his tears and feels overjoyed to see Ayden. He utters the words,
“Buddy, I love you. I didn’t know you were coming.”
Erica is delighted to see Ayden’s grandparents so surprised to see them.
This is actually not the first time that they are tearful during their reunion.
There is an older video of these two souls welling up with tears when they reunited after a year of being apart. At that time, Grandpa Greg and his wife visited Erica’s family in Owensboro, Kentucky.
Too excited to see the visitors, the younger Ayden rushed to his grandpa and hugged him tight while crying. He was filled with joy and was speechless for the unexpected visit that he could only sob while his grandpa is carrying him.
There is a saying that’s quoted anonymously,
“Every grandson enjoys being his grandfather’s sidekick.”
This is, perhaps, just one of the many reasons why Ayden and Grandpa Greg are so close to each other. The two know how to have a great time when they’re together, making parting quite difficult for them. And they keep looking forward to the time when they can make new memories again.
