Who doesn’t love an entertaining halftime show at a basketball game? Talented cheerleaders showcasing their routines and getting crowds riled up while athletes prepare for the 2nd half has become a celebrated part of the sport. The energy of the dancers helps the crowd to keep their excitement at an optimal level so they can cheer on the home team.
Halftime is also the perfect time for a lot of laughter!
This performance, in particular, is something truly unique. It was the kind of halftime show nobody would want to miss!
Cheerleading is a hard job. Those involved must keep their energy levels set to high no matter how the game is actually going. Their dance routine and body movements must keep the fans engaged and wanting to dance the routine right along with them. It’s fun for everyone.
A few male students from Carroll Senior High School decided they wanted to participate in the time-honored tradition of halftime cheerleading routines.
After all, who wouldn’t want to dance a routine so lively the crowd wants to join in?
This halftime show from a game in Southlake, Texas was one worth remembering. The game was students vs staff at the school and nobody in the crowd was expecting anything out of the ordinary at halftime. Clearly, the boys put a lot of effort into their routine and the fans in the stands picked up on this and gave them the response they deserved.
A famous artist begins the routine!
The show starts with one of the boys at center court. He is playing the role of Michael Jackson and several other dancers began to play the role of Zombies from the popular “Thriller” music video. Much like Thriller, this attack of the living dead played out like a choreographed dance routine.
The crowd begins to recognize that something unusual and exciting is happening during this halftime show. Their excitement begins to be audibly heard throughout the gymnasium. The basketball players on the sidelines even start to get in on the act, imitating the dance steps of the students involved in the routine.

The sounds of Lady Gaga begin to ring out as the tempo of the music changes. The student dancers clap their hands as they fan out, keeping the crowd’s energy going. Unexpectantly, the students’ moves and vibe are so contagious that they have the attention of everyone in the gym. What proceeded was worthy of a Lady Gaga music video.
The regular cheerleader team was likely feeling as though these boys were showing them up a little. All of a sudden, they would have to live up to this new standard the guys were setting. Then the boys made the transition from Lady Gaga to Taylor Swift, with an homage to Kanye’s infamous interruption of her award speech thrown in as well.
Call them the Powderpuff Boys! Actually, though.
As the music switches between genres, the boys prepare for one of the more comedic points of their routine. The music switches from modern-day pop to country. The school’s staff look on in disbelief. These boys really know how to rile up a crowd! When they re-enacted Kanye’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s award speech everyone lost it! The crowd was in hysterics.
Then it was time for the boys to dance along to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies.”
Ellen’s producers really need to be told about these students…
This halftime show had everything. Comedy, interpretive dance, and even a little bit of ballet thrown in there. There were surprises, costumes, and enough hilarity that many probably didn’t want it to end. Was there even a second half of basketball played?
The crowd was fully engrossed in the performance. They were singing along, dancing in the stands and cheering along with the energetic routine. These boys left it all on the court and the crowd ate it up.
You only get to go through high school once and the memories from the experience will last a lifetime. For these boys, they will likely look back on this moment fondly as they remember those fun-filled high school days.
