Thanks to courier companies like FedEx and UPS, millions of people can shop online and have their purchases delivered to their doorstep. As you can imagine, the men and women who drive for these companies have a ton of deliveries to make. That means they’re always working against the clock, trying to keep up with demand.

Unfortunately, we’ve all read stories about delivery fails. You know, the ones where the driver threw a fragile package over the customer’s back fence. Or when a driver pretended to leave a package only to pick it up and take it with him. But along with the bad comes the good. One driver for FedEx showed what a big heart he has and just much he loves his country.

Treating the American flag with respect

As you know, people are supposed to treat the American flag with the utmost respect. That consists of taking it inside when it’s raining and never letting it touch the ground. The latter is what one Fed-Ex driver experienced when driving through a Freehold, New Jersey neighborhood. Instead of a flag firmly attached to a pole, it had fallen.

He responded in the most incredible way

The minute he saw the flag had fallen to the ground he did something about it. But this driver didn’t just pick it up. No, he picked it up and then folded it. The man, Chris Oslovich, expressed that when it comes to our country’s flag, “You have to do something whether people are watching or not.”

Someone was watching

Unbeknownst to this driver, his actions were caught on the homeowner’s Ring camera. The resident received an alert that someone was hanging around his house. So, he logged into his account to check it out. That’s when he saw the most amazing thing ever. Of course, he couldn’t keep this to himself…he shared it with others online.

In no time, the video went viral

Within a short time after posting the video, it went viral, racking up more than 6,000 shares. Fox & Friends Weekend got wind of the story and wanted to interview Oslovich on the show. What’s interesting is that at the time, he wasn’t even delivering packages. Instead, he was simply driving by when he noticed the flag.

People around the world were touched

You’d think this would be something that everyone would do but that’s just not the case. For this Fed-Ex driver, seeing the American flag on the ground was disrespectful. It wasn’t anything the homeowner did wrong, just an Act of God. He stated, “The flag should never be desecrated like that so you have to stop. For him, it wasn’t about being noticed but doing what was right.

“You don’t see things like that anymore”

Those were the words spoken by the homeowner, Rick Guerino, Jr. He explained that after 09/11, he put the flagpole up. But a heavy wind knocked it over. Since he wasn’t home, he had no idea what was happening until his Ring camera sent him the alert. As he watched, he saw Oslovich first unhook the flag, followed by folding it. But he didn’t fold it any old way, he did it properly.

There’s a heartwarming backstory

Come to find out, Oslovich’s father was a first responder on 09/11. He’s even considering getting involved with law enforcement at some point. When questioned how he learned to fold the America flag correctly, he stated he learned by watching flag-folding ceremonies, some his father attended and others where his father was the one to fold the flag.
