One group of people from the United Kingdom has been intriguing the public for decades.
Yes, you’ve guessed it well; the British royal family is one of the correct answers. However, we were thinking more along the lines of the Queen’s Guard.
Buckingham Palace Guards are known for their bearskin caps, stoic demeanor and the fact that they won’t smile for your selfie.
We want to show the other faces of brave guardsmen because one of them kindly made a little boy’s birthday wish come true. Check out how Queen’s Coldstream Guard melted the hearts of everyone.
Imogen Scott and her son, Marshall Scott, went to see the Changing of the Guard at Windsor Castle.
Little boy Marshall turned four that day, and his birthday wish was to see the Queen’s Guard. Mrs. Scott couldn’t deny such a sweet wish. Still, she could have never imagined that a routine visit would turn into a precious memory for a lifetime. Marshall even wore a special uniform, the one that resembles the Guard’s outfit, complete with the massive hat and everything.

We completely understand why the Guard couldn’t resist his baby boy charm. The video shows a soldier approaching the Guard’s young fan to pose for a photograph. It was completely unexpected because Queen’s Guardsmen don’t usually do similar things.
Marshall’s cute birthday wish made the Lance Corporal remember his childhood.
“I just remember when I was younger when I wanted a picture with a soldier and seeing Marshall in a Coldstream guards uniform just made me proud of what I do,” says Lance Corporal Paul Edden. He was overwhelmed by the boy’s interest in the Guard.
As soon as he had heard that it was Marshall’s 4th birthday, Edden knew he had to do something special.
Corporal Edden stepped out of the Guard while soldiers from the Coldstream Guards marched through the Quadrangle.
While the Changing of the Guard was in full swing, Marshall watched the entire event with a lot of interest. Suddenly, Corporal Edden stepped out and stood by the boy’s side. Imogen quickly took a few pictures.
“We are overwhelmed by it all and the kindness of everyone there, not just the soldier who came out to see him. He is so happy. Literally, his dreams have come true,” explained Marshall’s mom later.
The whole thing was captured on video and has since been viewed more than 15 million times on YouTube.
In a short interview with BFBS Radio, Marshall enthusiastically repeats that soldiers smiled at him. Little Scott is eight years old today, but he still dreams of becoming a soldier. Luckily, a surprise didn’t end there, and Mr. Edden offered Marshall and his family a tour of Windsor Castle as a special gift.
The Coldstream Guards also tweeted that they have saved a spot for Marshall at the Army Foundation College Harrogate for the March 2029 intake.
Marshall’s love for soldiers is well-deserving of such a special birthday gift.

Did you know that those hats weigh somewhere between 4.5 and 9 oz?
We did a little research and found out much exciting stuff about the Queen’s Guard, including the impressive weight of those hats. They even become heavier if they get wet. Numerous tourists have posed by the Guards’ side for a photo, and some are incredibly funny. Guards shouldn’t laugh, but it’s not forbidden.
Our lucky guess is that Marshall had probably known all these facts.
Take care, little fellow, and keep up the excellent work. We’re sure that you’ll become a great soldier one day!
