Did you ever feel nostalgic whenever you hear an old song on the radio?
It makes you remember your grandparent’s old hands swaying you back and forth as a toddler or your mom’s smile as she sings to you the song over and over again. Each song carries with it a memory and a message.
No wonder some songs are a little more iconic than the rest.
These songs often freeze us in our tracks and hum with the tune as we remember those fond memories. Some songs are as old as our grandparents or parents, but its still a hit in our generation. We can actually name a few such as Power of Love, Tie a Yellow Ribbon and Mama Mia.
Not only do these songs take us back to the past, but it’s used by many singers for their audition.
As it turns out, there was a recent audition on The Voice Kids UK that fit perfectly in this category.
And do you know who performed it?
It was performed by an adorable seven-year-old boy named Shaney-Lee.
Shaney-Lee may only be seven years old, but he has his own style and is good as any adult performer. We can even say that he has the confidence of an experienced performer.
When Shaney-Lee was asked to explain his backstory, he said that he lives on a farm with several animals. Due to his background, he chose to perform the song “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver.
As we all know, the song was a hit in the 1970s. It still is until today! So, you bet that everyone knows the song.
As he steps into the stage, the crowd was curious as to how he will perform. They couldn’t even believe what they see. The judges had their backs on him because it’s a blind audition.
When the music started to play, the crowd went wild when Shaney-Lee began to sing.
It was evident that he had a lot of potential.
He was talented and skilled for his young age. He had a good grasp of the warble and the warmth in the delivery of some of the best country singers.
He was charming during his performance and he delivered it so well that everyone was praying that one of the judges would turn around.
When the camera cuts to his family, it was seen that they all had tears in their eyes. Shaney-Lee was truly a great singer. He sang the song with so much passion and soul to it that his family cried.
Just as the song is ending, judge Pixie Lott smashes her buzzer!
Finally!
When they all turn around, they were shocked at the young boy. They were all taken by surprise!
Even though it was The Voice Kids, they weren’t expecting that a young boy will be standing there wearing a sharp suit.
Shaney-Lee explained that he loves country music and gushed that he recently saw Penny Rogers in concert. After a moment, judge will.i.am asks him if he’s ever ridden on a horse before.
“I rode here on my horse today,” Shaney-Lee replies.
Everyone laughed with his response.
Truly, he wasn’t only skilled by charming too. They didn’t expect that he had a pony tied backstage.
