Man Loses His Job And Builds Tiny Cabin From Scratch

April 7th, 2021

Jacob Harrell got laid off but instead of moping around, he decided to use his free time to build a tiny house in the woods.

It looks like something out of a fairy tale and it’s beautiful!

He’s a video producer, so Jacob took out his camera and decided to share his projects online while still unemployed.

The video is a timelapse but done so in a way that Jacob still shares with his viewers each step of the way down to the finest details. He is a video producer after all!

He builds the frame from scratch and you can see him armed with a saw, a drill, and loads of determination mixed with a strong, positive attitude. Jacob is the type of person we need in our lives. Or the kind of guy we all should strive to be like.

Harrell mounts the wooden base on a trolley before proceeding to attach the walls and the roof. He makes it look so easy.

Got to love the cinematic work too. the sunlight filtering through the leaves, the swaying fruits, the music. Epic.

Jacob’s got family and friends to help him and together they mount the door and window before wrapping the frame and finishing off the exterior with more wood. His mom’s on tractor duty.

It’s England so the weather was really unpredictable but work doesn’t stop on his “Church of Jacob”.

Mother Nature provided Jacob with everything he needed for the exterior. He chops up logs for the steps leading up the door then uses a bunch of twigs and vines as a decorative piece for the entire front of the cabin.

Jacob wants to build more for people to rent Airbnb style. Little Orchard Hideaways is the name he’s choosing so look it up next time you’re in the Cotswolds.

Harrell says.

“After 11 weeks of unemployment, countless thoughtful cups of tea, i’ve made a decision. If employment wont come to me, then I will go to employment! I shall be starting a Tiny home accommodation business in the Cotswolds of the UK.”

He’s pretty handy with those tools and he uses all his time from sun up to sun down working on the cabin. The interior has lots of storage space including a counter for a sink and a stove.

A short ladder leads up to a small loft where Jacob can rest. A small table for two is wide enough for tea and small meals, and if you want to read while enjoying your alone time, there’s power too!

Jacob’s creativity has opened up so many possibilities for him. He’s showing everyone that losing your job isn’t the end, but is just a new blank page where one can start over and create stunning stories.
