Man puts up gorgeous Christmas tree without wife knowing, then she walks in the room

November 6th, 2019

Once Halloween ends, it’s time to get ready for the next holiday. Some people want to start decorating for Christmas right away. Others are fiercely protective of the Christmas season. They forbid any decorations before December. After all, there’s another holiday before we get to the Christmas season.

It can get a little tiring to hear those Christmas carols for three months straight.

But after fighting it for years, one man finally gave in and decorated early. Why? Because his wife loves Christmas that much.

Troy Amdahl, shared his story on Love What Matters.

He also shared a shot of his wife reacting to their newly-decorated Christmas tree. Yes, it might only be the beginning of November. But in his mind, it was all worth doing it for her.

“This was last night, and this was her real reaction,” he said. “Actually, this was after tears, and after literally jumping up and down.”

The picture shows Amdahl’s wife gazing at the beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

Her mouth is wide open and her eyes full of excitement. It’s easy to believe she was jumping up and down a moment before the photo was taken.

“You see, my wife loves Christmas more than anyone over 12 I know,” said Amdahl. “She loves ALL of it. The Hallmark movies, the decorating, the gift-giving, family, the meaning…ALL of it. For years, I resisted, digging my heels in, insisting, ‘No decorations until after Thanksgiving.’ This year, I surprised her with this. And by her reaction, my only disappointment is that I didn’t do this years ago.”

No, it’s not the Christmas season yet.

It’s not even Advent yet. But Amdahl decided those details didn’t matter. He wanted his wife to celebrate Christmas as much as she desired. And if it made her this happy, he didn’t care if they weren’t following the rules.

“Heck, if it makes someone I love this much, this happy, it can stay up all year as far as I’m concerned,” he said.

The Christmas tree is beautiful, decorated from top to bottom in gold and silver.

It reaches all the way up to the ceiling. Let’s say the Amdahl family doesn’t celebrate Christmas halfway.

The festive sight brought joy to Amdahl’s wife. Meanwhile, the story has people on social media happy, too.

“This is the most beautiful thing I’ve seen in a while,” said one Facebook commenter. “Christmas is magical. If it makes you happy…put up all the decorations! Sing all the Christmas carols! Watch all the movies! And never ever worry about what others think…!”

Technically, Christmas doesn’t even start until Dec. 25.

It continues all the way until Jan. 6, the Feast of the Epiphany. Most people start decorating during Advent, which are four weeks of preparation before Christmas.

Whether you wait until December or start itching to put the tree up in August, it really doesn’t matter. What does matter is you hold on to what Christmas is all about.
