When William Seaton started dating Ashley, she told him she and her sister were a “package deal”.
Ashley Schaus and her sister Hannah have always been incredibly close. “She has Down syndrome and diabetes, and I look after her and protect her,” Ashley told Fox News. “She’ll never be able to live alone,” she later told the Washington Post. “When my parents get older and can’t care for Hannah, she’ll be under my care.”
“To be with me, you must accept her and love her, as well.”
Knowing the conditions involved with dating Ashley, William went out of his way to include Hannah during their time together. Often, the teen would tag along on their dates, making it no surprise she’d also be involved in the proposal.
The couple initially went viral when William proposed to both Ashley and Hannah, asking one to be his wife and the other to be his “best friend forever”.
The photos, showing a delighted Hannah in a field of flowers immediately went viral.
“It was the sweetest moment in my whole life watching Hannah be so happy and feeling so special,” Ashley told Fox News. “Then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife.”
When the couple went viral, they already knew Hannah would be playing a large role in their wedding. She and Will would even be making vows to each other, Ashley explained: “They will make promises to each other to always care for one another, share secrets, make jokes and go fishing, as that’s one of their favorite things to do. Will and I will share our vows and then all three will walk down the aisle together.”
On their special day, the couple’s stayed true to their word.

“Hannah, I’m thankful you’re my sister and my best friend,” he told her. “You’re one in a million. I promise to always take you fishing, tell you plenty of funny jokes, and most importantly, I promise to always look out for you and take care of you as a big brother.” Afterward, Ashley told Inside Edition: “[Hannah] was on the verge of crying, I had to help her read [her vows] but it was very emotional.”
“I’m really glad she got to be part of us that day and not just part of the bridal party.”
Hannah even sported her own white dress during the wedding, sharing a first dance with Will to “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” by Michael Buble.
Since being uploaded, the heartwarming video has been viewed thousands of times.
