Saying goodbye to a loved one is heartbreaking – and for some, it can be difficult to move forward.
62-year-old Mary Ann knows what it’s like to experience terrible loss. Both her son and father passed away several years ago, which understandably, flipped her world upside down.
While it was a long road of grief for Mary Ann – she finally reached a point where she was ready to “enjoy life” again. But, in order to do so, she needed a confidence boost after years of not doing anything with her look.
If anyone could help lift Mary Ann’s self-esteem, it was The Makeover Guy.
Mary Ann, who’s from Tampa, decided to book an appointment with the “appearance aficionado” and visit his studio in Minneapolis. To some, it may seem like a long trip for a day at the salon. However, Christopher Hopkins (aka The Makeover Guy) is known around the world for his stunning (and often life-changing) beauty transformations!
The grieving mom walked into Christopher’s studio hoping for a jumpstart.
When you’re feeling depressed, the last thing on your mind might be how you look in the mirror. For Mary Ann, being retired also contributed to her not putting in much effort when getting ready each day.
She explained:
“Not being in the workplace, I’ve gotten real lazy. I’m pretty much wash-and-wear. What my look is now is what it always is.”
Yet, that was all about to change… Mary Ann wanted a makeover so she didn’t “fade into the wallpaper.” She also felt that it’d help improve her confidence so she could get back to “enjoying life.”
Mary Ann believes her son sends her signs. Amazingly, she received some before traveling to see Christopher.
She shared:
“When I was trying to decide whether or not to jam to get out here, I just kept seeing confirmation from him that what I was doing was good. That I was moving forward and this was gonna be a good time.”
The internet is standing up and cheering over the results of her makeover.
Christopher is thought to have magic in his hands when it comes to making people look fabulous. With Mary Ann, he did not disappoint! On top of bringing out her inner-gorgeousness, Mary Ann looks like she literally drank from the Fountain of Youth during the visit.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to see Christopher in action during the video. However, it says the following on the Makeover Guy Facebook page:
“It MAY have been a bit like pulling teeth to pull Mary Ann out of the dark place, but by the time she left, she was out and ready to go. What a blast to have really thick hair to work with. We actually just blew it almost dry, put in some rubber bands, pulling the hair half way through, and that’s what gave her the ‘didn’t do my hair’ look that seems so popular (to my chagrin). It worked for her, so it was fun.”
Get ready, you’re about to be on stage.
