A lot goes into planning “the perfect” wedding. That includes all the festivities for the reception following the ceremony. Whether choosing something elaborate or casual, all brides want their special day to be flawless. But once in a while, someone decides to add in something a little extra that leaves guests speechless.

First dance

Wedding receptions are so fun for everyone. Between the decorations, food, and of course, music, it’s an amazing time. Then you have the first dance, something that all of the guests look forward to. After all, this is when the couple take the dance floor for the first time as husband and wife.

Choosing the right song

Usually, brides and grooms go with a more traditional songs, you know, something slow and romantic. But then again, not everyone likes to be conventional. For one new husband and wife, they went with something completely different. And as a fun-loving couple, it matched their personalities perfectly.

The Jive

This particular dance style was created by African Americans in the US during the early 1930s. Although people loved it, it wasn’t until 1934 when Cab Calloway made it the popular genre it is today. The best description…it consists of fast movements that incorporate a little bit of Swing and Jitterbug.

Joined by her husband

But then, you see the groom approach the dance floor. He strips off his jacket and rolls up his sleeves. As he walks toward his beautiful bride, the music starts. And they chose a perfect song — “Little Bitty Pretty One” by Huey Lewis & the News.

Fantastic choreography

We don’t know how much dance experience these two have but they followed the choreographed steps with ease. It’s easy to tell that these two put in a lot of time and effort to make their first dance memorable. Without question, they succeeded.

Surprised family and friends

Come to find out, the Andersen’s used the services of Susan and Steve McFarren from the Ballroom Dance Team at the University of Michigan to organize the steps. With their assistance, this couple pulled off something that even pros might have a hard time doing. It was fantastic.

Using the entire floor

Instead of just rocking back and forth to a slow song, the Andersen’s utilized the entire dance floor. That meant that all of the guests got a closeup of these two in action. Throughout the song, they gazed lovingly into each other’s eyes.

True love

While dancing to the Jive, it was as though at times no one else was in the room. They were there for each other while giving an outstanding performance for their guests. The connection they share is palatable. If they’re this close now, we can only imagine how wonderful their life will be as Mr. and Mrs. Andersen.

They gave 100 percent

This couple gave the dance everything they had. The combination of twirls, spins, and fancy footwork was beyond incredible. This video was shot in 2016 and we hope they’re still spending time on the dance floor doing what they do best.
