It is always sad when young people die, and the loss is never easy for the parents to cope with.

Especially if the deceased didn’t suffer from some kind of disease that had prepared their loved ones for the upcoming end, the sudden loss is much more difficult to handle for the people left behind.

Although one can never forget a beloved relative or friend who has passed away, there are always ways to help them and make them feel a little better by showing you will be there for them if they need you.

Experts suggest there are a few key things you can do to help someone in grief, and those include letting them know you are there to listen to them if they need to talk to someone, understanding that every person reacts differently to loss and give them time for the new reality to sink in, while they also encourage you to help in practical ways.

And an officer in Virginia opted for the latter, a few days ago when he decided to help a woman who had just lost her son mow her lawn.

A little more than a week ago, the police were called on Rockbridge Avenue in Lynchburg, Va. Officers who arrived at the scene found the 42-year old Eduardo Jordan unresponsive on the basement floor.

His mother, Glenna Wright, who was there, too, had no idea what had happened to her son as he was thought to be healthy previously. When the reporters arrived there, she was too emotional to talk to the cameras, but she was heard saying that her son had been planning to mow the lawn on Sunday, and then he suddenly died.

One of the officers who happened to be there was Lt. Luke Bryan. The man approached the elderly lady and promised her that he would soon take his son and go mow her lawn like her late son had planned to do.

Indeed, a few days later, on his day off, Bryan appeared at her house with his son and they kept their promise.

“This didn’t take us but 30 minutes to do today and I hope it was a big help for her,” Bryan told the local news.

Although for the two men this was nothing but a few minutes of chores, for the woman it meant so much that a stranger took the time to help her with her yard. It also somehow meant her son had kept his promise too.

Bryan, talking to the reporters, explained that it is important to look out for people who need our help. Indeed, a little kindness goes a long way.

“So, I just say, open your eyes and look around. There’s little things that you can do for your neighbors right now that could be a big difference,” Bryan said.

Wright later shared that her son had died from a heart attack, but she would still wait for the medical examiner’s final results. She also expressed her gratitude to the officer and assured him that, after she takes the time she needs to mourn for the loss of her beloved son, she would pass it on.

This man’s small act of kindness made all the difference for a grieving mother. You can watch the full story below.
