When it comes to brands of baby food, just about everyone has heard of Gerber. For one thing, the packaging includes a photo of an adorable baby. Also, the brand has incredible healthy choices. What started out as a small operation in 1927 has boomed into a mega-corporation.

Today, Gerber sells its products in more than 80 countries. One year after starting its operations, Gerber chose its first baby model…Ann Turner Cook. The artist, Dorothy Hope Smith, created an adorable charcoal sketch of what was then a sweet 5-month old infant.

Ann, who recently turned 93, is excited for another baby to take over as the face of Gerber.

Everyone who saw the image of Ann on the Gerber baby products fell in love with her. With tousled hair, beautiful pursed lips, and bright eyes, she helped make the brand what is today. But people are now falling in love with Lucas Warren. Not only is this 1-year-old from Georgia the new face of Gerber but he also has Down Syndrome.

Lucas was chosen out of thousands of babies.

In 2010, Gerber started a contest to identify the next Gerber baby. Just as the judges were drawn to Ann as an infant, the same thing happened with Lucas. His mom, Courtney, describes this little boy as outgoing and someone who never meets a stranger. She also said, “He loves to play, loves to laugh, and loves to make other people happy.”

Everything came together perfectly.

Courtney entered Lucas in the contest after a relative showed her the advertisement asking for submissions. On a whim, she sent photos of her little boy in without expecting anything to happen. But she was wrong. Courtney along with her husband Jason was told last year that out of 140,000 entries, their son was selected to be the 2019 Gerber baby.

Ann’s thrilled to have Lucas become the new face of Gerber.

Born in November 1925 in Florida, she earned her teaching degree from the University of Southern Florida. Once she retired, Ann turned to writing. Even at 93 years of age, she’s doing extremely well and giving back to the community.

Gerber wants to make a positive impact on its customers.

Bill Partyka, CEO, and President of Gerber stated, “Every year, we choose the baby who best exemplifies Gerber’s longstanding heritage of recognizing that every baby is a Gerber baby. This year, Lucas is the perfect fit.” What’s not to love about this little boy. The minute you look at him, he melts your heart with his infectious smile and eyes full of life.

Perhaps Jason Warren, Lucas’ father, said it best. “We’re hoping this will impact everyone – that it will shed a little bit of light on the special needs community and help more individuals with special needs be accepted and not limited. They have the potential to change the world, just like everybody else.”

The incredible duo.

Looking at the photos of Ann Turner Cook holding little Lucas Warren on her lap is as good as it gets. Lucas has already stolen the hearts of everyone at Gerber and as his face becomes more familiar to the public, he’ll do the same with them. People on the internet are going wild for this new Gerber baby and it’s easy to understand why.
