Getting to walk across the stage during graduation is something students look forward to throughout their high school career.

Tragically, the coronavirus has robbed countless students of this experience across the world.

But one high school teacher in Phoenix, Arizona was determined to make sure one of his students wouldn’t miss out on this important moment in her life.

Especially, since she already suffered from great loss and disappointment.

The student and her family were on a trip when they were involved in a terrible car crash that took the lives of both of her parents and almost her own in February.

During this trip, her father told her how excited he was to see her graduate in her cap and gown with honors.

The crash left her hospitalized and in need of rehabilitation.

Teacher Jeff Schrock promised his student while visiting her in the hospital that he would help her to fulfill her dad’s wish.

“I’ve just been inspired by her fight and resiliency through it all. After crushing her rehab and fulfilling her father’s last wish, it was now up to me to fulfill my promise to her,” Schrock told Storyful, according to WHDH.

But that wasn’t going to be easy.

The coronavirus had canceled the school’s commencement ceremony for this year’s ceremony.

Though Shrock had to “pull some strings” to make it happen, he made it happen.

It wasn’t exactly like your typical graduation ceremony, but it was a ceremony nonetheless.

It took place at the martial arts clinic where the student trains.

Her trainer Lawrence Robinson, and his wife ended up taking her in after her parents passed away.

“It is due to the support from that tight social network of the martial arts community that made her recovery possible,” Schrock said. “I’ve just been inspired by her fight and resiliency through it all.”

The martial arts studio was decorated with some festive decorations and a few people close to the student were in attendance.

The student got to dress in her full cap and gown and stand before her assistant principal who lauded her accomplishments before becoming emotional and handing her a diploma.

He spoke about giving out diplomas saying “I couldn’t think of a better person,” before getting a little choked up.

“Graduate… please rise. Please come to the stage,” he told her before handing her a diploma and a handshake.

The student walked to the stage to receive her diploma and shake her assistant principal’s hand before she too became emotional.

Everyone who was in the room broke out into huge applause.

And with that, one of her dad’s last wishes on this earth was fulfilled.
