Teenagers are often considered to be indifferent and selfish by older people. They can see them as people who only mind their own business and don’t care about what others are doing or how they are feeling.

But, you see, sometimes life happens and it just proves in the best way possible that this is not true- at least, not for every teenager out there.

There are young people around who are not only ready to help someone in need, but they don’t even hesitate to risk their lives more than once in order to save a person in danger.

This is exactly what happened in the case of Josh Fields, who, several years ago, saved two people within the same day. In fact, the two incidents happened less than 30 minutes apart.

At the time, teenager Josh and his friends were in Georgetown, Ohio, and, while they were driving by a house, they noticed there were flames coming from it.

“There was flames everywhere,” Fields told WLWT. “Back towards the hallway in here there was all flames… This is crazy!”

Indeed, one of the houses in the neighborhood had caught on fire for unknown reasons. Without having to think twice, they decided to stop and check if someone needed their help.

And they made the right decision because a 70-year-old man was inside the house, unable to get out and save himself.

Outside the house, people were calling the man’s name asking him to get out but he just wouldn’t.

That’s when Josh and his three friends rushed inside and pulled the injured man out. It seems that the elderly man had been disoriented and severely burnt, but still alive.

This amazing act of bravery was enough for the teenagers to be called heroes, but what makes this story even more special is that Josh had already saved someone’s life earlier that day.

“We were down the 221 swimming at the dam. Before we jumped in [my friend] told me that he hadn’t swum in eight years,” Fields told the reporters.

Fields’ friend dove into the deep water and he soon went down. Swimming in dams is already dangerous, now adding inexperience to that, makes things even worse.

But Josh just couldn’t just look at his friend struggling to stay afloat and not help. So, he swam and got close to him, then took him out of the water.

Once the friends made it to the shore safe, they decided to not try anything dangerous again that day.

Little did they know that, only minutes later, they would enter a burning building to save someone else’s life.

It’s amazing how selflessly these teenagers acted and, hopefully, there are many young people out there ready to go above and beyond to save someone’s life.

In any case, teaching children how to react in emergency situations is necessary, while CPR training is also useful, as it can build young heroes.
