A San Antonio teen named Morgan lost the ability to walk for 10 months. Doctors weren’t sure if she would ever walk again. After learning she had a disorder that was previously undiagnosed, she was surprised when her legs stopped working. Her family and friends offered her plenty of support and helped her learn to get around on crutches and sometimes in a wheelchair.

As her prom got closer, she dreamed of walking into the gym in a beautiful dress on her own, without crutches.

She wanted to be able to dance and have fun and get her normal life back. Everyone around her wanted the same thing, but they weren’t sure if it was possible.

Morgan also wanted her date to have a great prom and she felt that he would miss out on dancing and fun if she couldn’t walk. Of course, her date, Tarik, didn’t mind; he was just happy to have Morgan at his side. Morgan decided that she would surprise him.

The day of prom came, and Tarik walked up to the door, expecting to see Morgan looking beautiful and leaning on her crutches.

He was ready to help her to the car and into the prom. Little did he know that Morgan was about to surprise him with something amazing.

Her entire family was there to see the couple off and to watch Morgan pull off her surprise. When Tarik walked in the door, Morgan was standing there without her crutches. This was impressive on its own. Then, Morgan started to walk toward him. Tarik couldn’t believe it.

He asked;

“How did you do that?”

Morgan was pleased to be able to walk, and she felt more beautiful than ever.

Tarik was thrilled, as well. He was so glad that Morgan was able to do this for herself, but he couldn’t believe she had worked so hard to do it to surprise him.

Morgan’s aunt also witnessed the incident and was very proud of her niece. She said:

“My niece lost the ability to walk last year and it’s been a very long and difficult journey for her. She never complained or showed fear. She always stuck by her faith and her strength without ever giving up on herself. It’s been a humbling and inspiring experience to witness this rough transition for not only her but our family, as well. She made a goal for herself that she would walk in time for prom, and just like the fighter she is — she made it happen, Y’all! And she looked so beautiful!”

A family member videotaped the entire surprise, and Morgan shared it on Twitter, as did other family members.

Morgan posted:

“After not being able to walk with my own two legs for 10 months. I surprised my prom date with this.”

Her video was viewed and shared numerous times, and it made its way around Twitter, YouTube, and other social media sites.

A lot of people commended her for being so brave and strong and working so hard to overcome such a huge challenge in her life.

Another girl, Nina, who has a similar disability and is currently going through physical therapy, saw the video and was inspired to work harder so she can walk again. She said:

“I cried. I am so so proud that you were able to accomplish this! My situation is definitely not comparable to yours, but I can’t wait until my husband sees how much progress I’ve made with my own recovery. YOU ARE SO STRONG AND YOU JUST MOTIVATED ME EVEN MORE.”

Morgan is happy that her story has been shared and had reached so many people.

Learning that she is inspiring others has made everything all the better. Not only did she get to walk at prom like she had always dreamed and make her date happy, she was making a difference in the lives of others. On top of everything else, she was also named prom queen. She is one strong girl.
