Family is the most important thing in the world. That’s why everyone should spend as much time with their loved ones as they can. This is especially true when it comes to older relatives. After all, no one knows how long they’ll be around. So, it’s better to show them how much they’re loved and appreciated now rather than later.
For many people, grandparents play a vital role in their lives. It’s so heartwarming to see young people just hanging out with them. Sometimes, grandparents and grandkids have some of the same interests despite the generation gap.
Connected by music
Music is one of those interests that never gets old regardless of a person’s age. Amazingly, some elderly people who experience memory loss can still remember songs from their past. Music is just one example of how people can connect to older individuals.
Singing to her grandmother
One teenage girl decided to visit her grandma. While there, she sings her a hymn. In a video posted online, people around the world are touched by the heartwarming relationship they share. It’s become so popular that it’s now on multiple social media sites.
A beautiful song
This teen knew she wanted to do something special for her grandma. So, she learned a hymn that she would know from her past. That’s what she wanted to sing. The girl already has an amazing voice. So, she felt confident she could nail it.
The grandma’s family tells her what’s going on
In the video, you see the grandma’s family around her. But before the teenage girl starts to sing, the family members have to explain to her what’s about to happen. They say, “She’s going to sing you a hymn.”
She begins the song
After they tell the grandma what her granddaughter is about to do, the young girl begins to sing. First is the start of the hymn, “O Lord my God.” Not only does this grandma watch carefully but she sits close by to make sure she doesn’t miss a single word.
The girl delivers a beautiful performance
As soon as she opens her mouth, you can tell this teenage girl has a lovely voice. She sings the hymn slowly so her grandma can follow along. Every word of the song comes out strong and clear.
A beautiful moment
Even though this grandmother sits close to her granddaughter, she’s struggling to hear. So, she’s places one hand on her ear and the other one on the teen’s shoulder. She doesn’t move either one throughout the entire song. It’s such a sweet moment.
The grandma is moved
Once the grandma recognizes the hymn, you can tell she’s moved. She’s probably heard the song many times before but now, she gets to enjoy it sung by her precious granddaughter. In the video, this grandma appears to get emotional at one point.
Her grandma sings at the end
Even though she was quiet for most of the song, the girl’s grandma joins in at the last moment. She sings, “How great thou art”…the final words of the hymn. It’s so wonderful to see that she remembered this beautiful song.
The whole family is touched
When the teen finishes singing, she tells her grandma, “You’re a good singer.” Meanwhile, the family comes together in a special moment. They all gather around the grandma to show her how much she’s loved.
