Unless you have been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of the HGTV hit show, Fixer Upper.

The series features married couple, Chip and Joanna Gaines, as they renovate houses in Waco, Texas.

Since its premiere, the show has been insanely popular. The show ran for five seasons from 2013 to 2018 airing 79 episodes.

Fixer Upper is credited for the rise in the Farmhouse Chic interior design style. In fact, in 2018, Zillow, the online real estate company, reported that homes listed with architectural features that were mentioned in the show sold at an average of 30% more than the expected value.

Now that’s having an influence!

On an episode in season 3 titled, “The Barndominium,” the couple transformed a white barn into a gorgeous home.

The house was renovated and decorated for the couple’s close friends, the Meek family.

The Gaines’ have always enjoyed working with their friends and this time wasn’t any different. However, they were working on a much more unique concept — turning a barn for animals into a home for a family.

Before the couple began working on the barn, it had been through a renovation process before.

Prior to the Gaines’ renovation, the second floor was a small apartment with two bedrooms and a small kitchen. The first floor included a garage and storage space.

Of course, Joanna took the Meeks’ desires into consideration. Still, she wanted give the barn a modern barn feel.

In addition, she wanted to include new windows, doors, light fixtures, flooring, and dry wall. She also had plans to turn the downstairs garage and storage area into three bedrooms, a bathroom, and living area with an office nook.

Essentially, Joanna’s ultimate goal was for the house to flow. It was time to kiss the disjointed apartment goodbye and say hello to the open, modern floor plan.

One of the first things that Joanna changed was the staircase.

According to the Meeks’ floor plan, the staircase would be outside. However, Joanna brought the stairs indoors and turned the space behind it into an office nook.

Downstairs, Joanna created a lovely gathering room complete with stunning high-ceiling drapes and large windows. Thus, natural light helps brighten the entire room.

Outside the home, a new roof, siding, and windows were added.

And as a “little addition,” Joanna completed the exterior with a small, fenced garden.

This barn received quite the renovation. It looks absolutely stunning! We sure hope the Meeks enjoy their new home.
