Who wouldn’t want to be on a nationally televised game show with the anticipation of winning money? For Miranda Mittleman of Hagerstown, Maryland, she had the opportunity to go on Wheel of Fortune. Even better, she walked away with $20,000.

She could’ve used that money for almost anything like pampering herself at a day spa, buying a vehicle, or taking a vacation. But thanks to Weaver, her beloved rescue dog, she came up with a much better idea. Miranda decided to use her earnings from the show to make the world a kinder place for both animals and kids.

She put together a plan that would provide children important lessons on how they can think and do things in a more positive way.

Miranda Mittleman didn’t want to use the money for herself but instead, put it to good use for others.

For as long as she can remember, Miranda had a deep passion for poetry and dogs. Now with $20,000 in her bank account, she came up with a remarkable idea. She combined the two things that touched her heart the most to create a series of books. PAWS and THINK! aren’t just ordinary children’s books. They’re unique. Each book covers topics like gratitude, self-confidence, and inclusion, all from Weaver’s viewpoint.

Together, she and Weaver travel to schools located throughout the country.

Since launching the books in 2017, Mittleman, accompanied by her beloved canine friend Weaver, has visited more than 100 schools. They’ve traveled to schools in Baltimore, New York, and New Jersey. But in the future, they expect to branch out. The goal is to teach children PAWSitive lessons. So far, her books have had a remarkable impact on more than 30,000 kids.

Miranda also donates a portion of the books she sells to a variety of not-for-profit organizations.

As Miranda stated, “This has been the most incredible opportunity of my life. I never imagined that my passion for poetry and love for my rescue dog would lead me down this amazing path.” Every three months, she donates money from her book sales…to date, that’s equaled over $5,000. “I’ve had the honor of presenting donations to numerous charities that help children and animals,” Miranda said.
