Boy Sends Letter To Heaven But Never Expected A Response

May 31st, 2019

You can’t necessarily bank on people taking the time to perform thoughtful acts, especially when it’s an effort for them. But one little boy was the recent recipient of an act of kindness — from a total stranger.

Jase is 7 years old, but his father passed away when he was only a toddler.

Since then, he and his sister have made every effort to keep their father alive in their memories.

When their dad’s birthday rolled around, the children wanted to send him a birthday card. There was just one problem: they weren’t sure how to deliver it to him.

So, Jase came up with a solution, reaching out to Royal Mail for help.

“Mr. Postman, can you take this to Heaven for my dad’s birthday,” he wrote on the outside of the envelope. “Thanks.”

Many mail carriers would have ignored the message from a little boy who missed his father. But instead, Jase and his sister got a letter back — from the postal service itself.

“Dear Jase, while we’ve been delivering your post, we became aware of some concerns,” read the letter.

“So, I just wanted to take this opportunity to contact you about how we succeeded in the delivery of your letter to your dad in Heaven. This was a difficult challenge, avoiding stars and other galactic objects en route to Heaven. However, please be assured that this particular important item of mail has been delivered. Royal Mail’s priority is to get our customers’ mail delivered safely. I know how important your mail is to you. I will continue to do all I can to ensure delivery to Heaven safely.”

Jase’s mother was floored by the thoughtful, kind response that arrived just before Christmas.

She took to social media to share the letter and express her gratitude to the people at Royal Mail for taking the time to respond to her children.

Jase has one sister, Neive, who is 10 years old. She was also happy to get the response from their postman. Their mother, Teri Copland, said that her son was overjoyed and emotionally overwhelmed to hear that his letter had made it safely to his father.

Jase and Neive have remembered their dad on his birthday ever since he died in May 2014.

“I want people to realize that a small gesture of kindness can have such a fantastic impact on someone’s life,” said Copland. “Royal Mail actually took part and that gives me so much comfort.”

It’s especially meaningful since their mother has always stressed the importance of remembering others through gifts, cards, and letters.

She teaches her children that even if you can’t give a gift, you should still reach out to people you remember. Now, the children have seen the fruits of that lesson themselves. What’s more, they know their father received their letter and that he knows they love and remember him. It was the best Christmas present they could have asked for.
