There is a popular trend that is sweeping the world that has been going on for some time. Known as the “tiny house movement”, people are desiring to get more out of life by living intentionally and with less. It is loosely tied with minimalism but there are people who simply love living in a tiny home!

It is one thing to have a tiny home in order to keep your expenses down. It is another thing entirely if you can pedal your entire home around with nothing more than a bicycle! Paul Elkins is a “micro-camper” and has been traveling the country since 2002 in his very own stealth camper.

Paul claims that anyone has the ability to make one of these micro-campers, given time and dedication.

After making his own micro-camper, Paul hopped on his bike and started traveling the country! Starting with a pickup truck and a dream, Paul wanted to be able to travel the country and not have anything holding him down. After going to Burning Man, he made a “post-apocalyptic bicycle camper” that he traveled a bit with. It wasn’t built for the road, however, so Paul decided to make something a bit sturdier.

After a few years, he made an updated version that could be towed by a bike.

His newest one was intended to be more aerodynamic and had a conical nose that he loved! Using old campaign signs and zip ties, Paul started to work on the structure in his garage at home. The result was a lightweight and sturdier structure that was made with recycled materials and old bike parts! Check out his old version below!

Since the only wood is on the base of the structure, the entire thing is incredibly light.

With the recycled materials coming from the free campaign signs that he “harvested”, the camper is cheap, lightweight, and durable – perfect for traveling the country! It totals in at around 60 pounds and costs about $150 total.

The camper has everything that you need to survive.

More than just a tent attached to the back of a bike, this is a fully functional mini-camper! It includes a lot of the amenities that you would only expect from something many times this size. One of the coolest elements is the kitchen that he built into the camper. With a little propane burner built into the wheel well and a pan on top, he is able to cook with a flame right inside this little structure!

There is plenty of storage and space for everything that Paul needs.

There is shelving for food, a water container, and a trash hole that he can use all while staying inside the shelter. It is also insulated, making sure that he is able to stay warm during the winter, wherever he bikes to. With containers for clothing and tools, everything that Paul could possibly need fits within his little shelter!

The entire thing is “stealth” and painted to look like grass.

When you look at and inside the little shelter, it makes you think of a full-sized camper, only smaller. It is cute and well put together making for a wonderful little project that has function and form. Paul refers to is as his “home away from home” and loves traveling in it.
