Russell Wilson couldn’t be happier right now. The Seattle Seahawk’s superstar quarterback recently signed a four-year, $140-million extension to his contract which makes him the highest paid player in the NFL. Not too shabby, right?
Despite his wealth, the 30-year old football star will never forget his roots and who helped him get to where he is now – his mom.
Tammy, Wilson’s mom, has always stayed by her son’s side. She has supported and encouraged Wilson throughout his entire career, something that he’ll never forget.
Russell Wilson and his wife, singer Ciara, wanted to give his mom a present to help show their gratitude and appreciation for everything she has ever done for him. And what better time to surprise Tammy than on Mother’s Day?
Wilson decided to use his riches to give his mom an incredible gift – a surprise she never saw coming.
The day after Mother’s Day, Wilson uploaded a video to his Instagram and it had us all in tears while grinning from ear to ear at the same time. Along with the video, he included the caption:
“All these years you have never asked me for anything… only thing you ever wanted is for me to LOVE. Well thanks for loving us the way you do. This one’s for you. I love you momma.”
During the video, you can see Wilson and his wife walking Tammy up to the front door of a seemingly random house.
The family is casually chatting and Tammy is currently blissfully unaware of the massive gift she’s about to receive. Then, Wilson hands his mom a set of keys. With a confused look on her face, she asks, “what’s this?”.
Gesturing his mom to the door, the NFL player tells his unsuspecting mom that those are the keys to her new house. Confused and speechless, Wilson has to repeat himself a few more times so she could grasp what was really going on.
“You lying. Are you serious?” his mom asks and screams when she realized what’s happening. “No. Are you serious? For real?”
It took Tammy a little while before she could fully accept and believe that her son and his wife just gave her an entire house for a Mother’s Day gift. It took some convincing, but the look of shock and gratitude on her face is absolutely priceless.
Once it hits her – Wilson’s mom breaks down in tears of gratitude. It’s certainly not every day that something so incredible happens in your life! But, for Wilson? It was no sweat off his back. He just wanted to thank his mom.
It’s clear that Russell Wilson is one stand-up guy who truly loves and appreciates his mom. What a wonderful person and role model.
