But there will be times that we face hardships and are pushed to our limits. We feel the pressure of providing for the family, and it can be quite stressful. Paying bills monthly and putting food on the plate is not an easy task to accomplish.

Single mom Natalie Koltes knew that she was in deep trouble.

Their monthly rent was almost due and she did not have any money to pay for it. Natalie and her daughter Ariel, nine years old, were at risk of being evicted from their rental home in Las Vegas.

She was quite stressed and kept on packing and unpacking their stuff. Unknown to Natalie, her daughter was silently observing her action.

Ariel was aware of her mother’s problem and in fear of being evicted from the house, the young girl took matters into her own hands.

For the 9-year-old, there was only one way to fix their problem and that was to get the help they needed. She decided to secretly write a letter to Fox5 Surprise Squad of Las Vegas, Nevada, hoping her pleas will be heard by the program.

Her letter said:

“My mom is trying so hard to make ends meet. I don’t want my mom to be under so much pressure.”

Ariel wrote that her mom was not alone in her struggle and hoped that they would hear her call for help and save them from their situation.

And true enough, Ariel’s letter was answered with a gift that changed her family’s life.

It was quite a surprise for Ariel to know that her letter has a positive response. She was shocked, but her mother was even more flabbergasted because she did not know that her daughter wrote a letter to the program.

The Surprise Squad showed up one day and made them cry happy tears because of their amazing gift for Natalie and Ariel. They shared that they would not only be paying the current month’s rent, but also that of next month!

They had more gifts to give than what Ariel asked for.

The Surprise Squad even gave a gift card to help them buy school supplies for the young girl to use when she went back to school. Apart from that, the Surprise Squad also made arrangements so that fees at the Boys and Girls Club would be erased for Ariel, because she loved to stay there.

Natalie is very thankful for her daughter’s incredible love for their family.

“If it wasn’t for my daughter, I wouldn’t be alive, so she’s my hero.”

Kids are observant and are not always unaware of what’s happening around them.

Parents always want to make their kids feel protected and safe from all of life’s hardships, but we can’t always shield them from reality. Sometimes, we don’t even realize how much they have grown and that they understand what’s taking place in the family.
