It’s every parent’s dream that their kids grow up to be more successful than them. They dream of their sons or daughters becoming doctors, lawyers, or even astronauts. However, 24-year-old Jamie Nyland from Gloucestershire, England has a different career than most.
He’s a social media star.
It’s a long cry from the traditional professions we consider successful in society, yet, Jamie has managed to do very well for himself. So well, in fact, that he was recently able to pay off his dad’s mortgage.
The heartwarming moment that Jamie officially hands over the keys was shared on TikTok recently in a viral video that you just have to check out.
It all starts with Jamie holding up the keys and smiling at the camera.
There is a caption on the screen that explains what’s going on.
Meanwhile, the dad has no idea.
Jamie walks into the room nonchalantly and casually tosses the keys to his pop. The man is sitting on the bed, texting on his phone when it happens.
He looks over, surprised, and wondering what’s up.
“Why’d you give me them for?” the dad asks.
It’s understandable that the dad doesn’t understand what’s going on.
Jamie has become well-known over the years for his epic prank videos, many of them involving his unsuspecting parents. For example, just a few weeks ago, right after Christmas, he pranked his dad into thinking that there was a burglar in the home.
The scared man went sprinting up the stairs where he hid in the bathroom for several minutes, waiting for the fake criminal to go away. It was actually just another of Jamie’s hilarious jokes.
Yet, this video is completely different.
“I’ve just paid off your mortgage. I’ve just rung the bank and paid off every single penny left on your mortgage,” replies Jamie to the confused dad. “You now own this whole house.”
The dad can’t believe it as he stares down at the keys.
The first words that come to his mouth are simply, “no, no, you haven’t”, which he repeats over and over again in a state of shock.
However, Jamie swears to him that it is true.
There is no hidden motive, no joke, and no funny business whatsoever. He’s totally serious.
“You now own this whole house. I swear. You’ve worked your whole life, I’ve paid off your house for you, so now you can actually retire,” explains Jamie again.
After a few more seconds of disbelief, Jamie’s dad finally realizes that it’s the real deal. He is now officially a homeowner, and soon, he will officially be done with work too!
“You’re the best son in the world that you can have,” exclaims the dad as he breaks down in tears.
The emotion is to be expected.
After all, it’s one of the nicest gifts that a child could give to a parent. The dad takes a while to collect himself, but we don’t blame him one bit.
Prior to this moment, he thought that he was going to have to continue working for many more years at his job until he finally had enough money to pay off the mortgage on the house. Yet, in a matter of a few seconds, everything changed for the man.
It doesn’t stop there though.
At the very end of the video, we get another beautiful twist. The dad hands the keys right back to Jamie and it all comes full circle.
“It’s in the will. The house is yours. What’s mine is yours,” says the dad.
The dad was working to pay off the house so that, eventually, he would be able to give it to his son! Now, they are both going to be homeowners.
“I love you so much. You paid off my mortgage, I’ve put you in my will. You retire me for life so I’ve set you up for life,” explains Jamie’s Dad.
Throughout all of these years of pranks, the two of them have formed such an incredible bond. While most of Jamie’s TikTok and YouTube videos are jokes, this one proved to be very different.
