It’s always heartwarming to hear other people saying “thank you”. But it’s also a different feeling when someone responds when you express your appreciation.

And in times like these, we often hear the phrase “your welcome” from other people.

But for the employees of Chick-Fil-A, it’s the other way around. In fact, they never say the same words.

They have a reason why and it’s inspiring.

If you’ve ever been to a Chick-fil-A even once, you probably know that its workers never say “you’re welcome” when you say “thank you” to them.

It may sound strange at first but it’s actually amazing because instead of “you’re welcome”, what they usually say is “my pleasure”.

If you would compare these two phrases, it’s pretty obvious that “my pleasure” sounds more sincere. It’s like the person who would say that to you is really happy to help you.

Chick-fil-A employees make their customers feel that they’re very happy to serve them. Aside from the remarkable taste of their chickens, this could be one of the reasons why lots of people patronize this particular fast food restaurant.

This practice started with its founder – Truett Cathy.

It’s based on his personal experience at the luxury Ritz Carlton hotel. When one of the employees of the said hotel responded to him with “my pleasure” when he said “thank you”, it made him realize many things.

It made him feel the employee’s sincerity and not to mention that Cathy also received a genuine smile from that person.

If you will read The Chicken Wire blog, you’ll see how important customer service was for Cathy. It’s something that he learned at a young age.

He would apply it whether he was selling Coca-Cola bottles to his neighbors or delivering newspapers. He would always give his hundred percent to make his customers satisfied.

That’s why the services that the workers of Chick-fil-A have been providing us are top-notch and they refer to it as “second-mile service”. Their goal is to exceed customer expectations all the time.

When he started to establish Chick-fil-A, he reminded everyone to treat each customer like they were the president.

Many people shared their own experiences and encounters with the employees of Chick-fil-A. Most of them have nothing but praises for them.

“The employees are all so courteous and polite. I have never had a bad experience with Chick-fil-A. Everyone smiles,” one commenter wrote.

If all restaurants are like these – it will be more appetizing to dine in them. Sometimes it’s not all about the food but it’s also how they treat their customers.

One commenter, who’s been a Chick-fil-A employee also talked about how they treat customers.

“We treat our customers with, honor dignity, and respect! Love being a corporate trainer and employee at Chick-fil-a.”

Is it required for every employee of Chick-fil-A to say “my pleasure” instead of “you’re welcome”?

One Reddit user revealed that the employees are not required to use it and they are allowed to say other responses. Despite that, the employees often choose to say these two words as they also feel its sincerity.

“We can say ‘you’re welcome’ and ‘of course’ but it doesn’t have the same effect as ‘my pleasure’. While it does become superficial after a while, there are a lot of newcomers who don’t expect it and find it surprising every time.”

This is just a great example of how words affect our lives. So it’s always important to carefully choose the words we say to others.
